The History of Randell’s Footcare So Far

This year sees us celebrating 20 years since the first Randell’s Footcare clinic opened in Norfolk, so we thought we would take you through the history of the company and how we have got to the position we are today.

1991

1991 sees both Karen and Steve Randell graduate with BSc Podiatry degrees having left their former nursing careers 3 years earlier to study at Leaf Hospital in Eastbourne.

1992

In 1992 having recognised the need for centres solely concerned with foot care, Karen & Steve develop successful podiatry clinics in Tunbridge Wells, Kent & in Crowborough, East Sussex with multiple smaller clinics placed within GP medical centres.

2002

After 10 years and wanting a change from the busy south-east counties, Karen and Steve along with young children Jodie and Aidan make the move back to Karen’s home county of Norfolk. They spend 2002 bringing up the children near the seaside in the county they love whilst taking time to settle into a new lifestyle.

2004

2004 sees us kick off in Norfolk. With a family name, ‘Randell’s Footcare’, opens the first clinic in North Walsham and begins to receive new patient referrals from GPs and other health professionals in the area.

2005

Having experienced high demand for their services, Karen and Steve quickly recognised the need to open more clinics and so 2005 sees the opening of clinics in Coltishall and Aylsham along with the recruitment of more podiatrists to help keep up with the footcare demands of patients.

2006-2010

With demand still increasing and having realised that patients are often travelling from further afield for podiatry treatments, Randell’s Footcare opens clinics in Sheringham, Cromer & Fakenham between 2006 and 2010. Sheringham becomes the home of Randell’s Healthcare with 5 treatment rooms providing local people with a wide range of healthcare services including hearing clinics, counselling, acupuncture and medical thermal imaging.

2014

In 2014 Randell’s Footcare had an ever increasing need to be able to provide in-house orthotic prescription and gait analysis. This need sees the arrival of the biomechanics assessment and involves the recruitment of highly qualified biomechanics trained Podiatrists from Spain.

2019

2019 saw the opening of another clinic, this time on Dereham Road in Norwich. After years of Randell’s Footcare becoming ever more popular within medical centres around the city, the time arrived to open a dedicated centre containing a specialist biomechanics suite along with a further 2 podiatry treatment rooms and onsite parking for all patients. The opening of this clinic takes Randell’s Footcare up to a total of 7 clinics spread across Norwich and North Norfolk, and a team of podiatrists from the UK, Scotland, Ireland, Spain and South Africa. A family spirit is at the heart of our team, and we are able to share our combined diverse expertise within our practices.

2022

The Randell’s family link grows greater in 2022 when Karen and Steve’s children join the business. Aidan joins as a clinician and business associate having graduated with a BSc Podiatry from Salford University in Manchester. While Jodie, who graduated in 2018, joins to work behind the scenes on business development projects.

2024

That brings us to today in 2024 where we are celebrating 20 years since Karen and Steve opened the first clinic in North Walsham, in that time Randell’s Footcare has treated almost 25000 patients over 7 clinics and has grown to a team of over 20 recruited from all over the world!

Throughout the past 20 years Randell’s Footcare has remained at the forefront of foot health innovation for their patients, most recently becoming one of the first podiatry clinics in the UK to launch a Vascular assessment, providing patients with crucial, life-saving information about their heart and circulatory health. Randell’s Footcare remains dedicated to providing exceptional foot care to their customers as well as expanding their biomechanics centre and treatments within Randell’s Healthcare. With a strong foundation and a clear vision for the future, we look forward to many more years of serving the Norfolk community.
